IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR BILL

Below is important information regarding your water and sewer bill.  If you have questions, please contact our customer service representatives at (801) 968-1011, Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m..

Billing Cycle

Kearns Improvement District’s billing system is very simple.  We have four billing cycles, 1, 2, 3, & 4.  Cycle 1 is the area east of the railroad tracks.  Cycle 2 is the area between approximately 4800 West and 5600 West and 4700 South and 6200 South.  Cycle 3 is all of Oquirrh Shadows, and Cycle 4 is all property located west of 5600 West and our commercial and industrial accounts.  At the time you receive your bill you have approximately three to four weeks before it is due.  The due date is always on a Monday (except holidays) and is shown on the top of your bill.

Monthly Billing

The amount due for water is based on actual water use during the month.  The amount due for sewer is a flat rate plus $1.15 per 1,000 gallons of water used over the previous winter’s average.  If you have just moved to the area and do not have previous winter usage, 7,000 gallons will be used for your average.

You will also note on your bill a Basic Service Fee which helps cover the cost of repairs and maintenance and a Special Water Fee that will be used to develop new water resources such as culinary water wells and secondary irrigation water.

If you would like to view your bill online, click on Online Bill Pay, and set up an account.

Paying Your Bill

We encourage all of our customers to take advantage of paying your bill online.  It saves you time and the cost of an envelope and stamp.  You can save further time by setting up an account online that will automatically pay your bill each month at www.kearnsid.org and click on Online Bill Pay.  You may also pay in person at our office, over the phone using our toll free number 855-583-6745, set up electronic payments with your financial institution, send payment through the mail (check or money orders only), or pay in our drop box located in our parking lot, no cash.

If you have a past due amount on your bill, don’t wait until the due date on your current bill to pay it.  Please pay it right away to avoid possible interruption of service.

Save Money

There are ways to save money on your water bill.  If you have a leak, fix it immediately.  You will be billed for all of the water that runs through your meter and it is an unnecessary waste of this precious natural resource.  Practice conservation measures both inside and outside, please see conservation information here.  Conservation not only saves water but saves you money.  It can also become quite costly not to pay your bill on time.  Each month the bill is past due, a 5% penalty is charged on the delinquent amount.  If you don’t receive your bill within one week of the previous due date, please contact us. We can tell you the amount of the bill and the due date.
